Agreement MEP-Universidad Para la Cooperación Internacional.

On June 22nd 2009, the Minister of Education signed an agreement that allows Universidad Para La Cooperación Internacional to bring native English speakers to public schools in Atenas, as volunteers. They will help the regular English teachers and participate in different school activities.
This initiative intends to contribute with Costa Rica Multilingüe to strengthen the teaching of the foreign language in public schools.
The conditions, regulations, obligations and responsibilities of each member are clearly established in the agreement.
Some of the advantages of this project are:

1. To help the English teacher to enhance his or her linguistic competences.
2. To expose students to a native linguistic model.
3. To help the English teacher to carry out his or her activities in the classroom.
4. To create an intercultural environment.

The English teachers, principals, supervisor and the English advisory welcomed this project which was discussed at a meeting in Atenas, on February 10th.
